It was named after the 1798 Rebellion; later Tonery\u2019s pub became known as the \u201898\u2019s Bar\u2019. One notable County Junior Cup final against Woodford, played in Gort, ended in a running battle through the streets after the match. The clubhouse was situated in Bohermore. The site was later occupied by \u2018Monto\u2019s\u2019 shop; today it&#8217;s covered by townhouses. One of the last achievements for the 98s was in 1968 when they won the Under-16 Galway City Hurling and Football Leagues. The 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Celebrations were held in Tonery\u2019s Pub (2018). Part of the celebration was Galway&#8217;s history-making champions in 2017, winning: Liam McCarthy All-Ireland Hurling Cup \u2013 Leinster Cup (Bob O&#8217;Keeffe) \u2013 National Hurling League Cup \u2013 Walsh Cup \u2013 All-Ireland Poc Fada Cup (Tadhg Haran) \u2013 Liam Mellows County Hurling Champions.
